Sim-Process Techniques.

This workshop will teach you the nuances of simulated process printing through step-by-step guidance. In simulated process, the print sequence is the most critical factor for achieving accurate colour representation and smooth gradients. Unlike traditional CMYK, simulated process relies on spot colors and halftones to create the illusion of a full-color image. The order in which these colours are printed directly affects how they blend and interact with the garment. Typically, lighter colours are printed first, followed by darker shades, allowing each layer to enhance depth and vibrancy. A precise sequence ensures smoother transitions and better colour accuracy and avoids muddiness, making it essential for producing high-quality, photorealistic prints. You'll learn all this and more.

Halftone Creation.

One of the most critical elements you will learn in the Simulated Process Workshop is halftone creation. Halftones are tiny dots that vary in size and spacing, allowing you to blend spot colours and create smooth gradients. Understanding how to generate and print halftones is essential for achieving the realistic shading and tonal transitions that make simulated process prints so detailed. In the workshop, you'll learn how to properly adjust halftone angles, screen mesh, and dot size to avoid issues like moiré patterns or dot gain. Mastering this technique enables you to produce vibrant, photorealistic designs with fewer screens.

Precise Registration.

In this Simulated Process Workshop, you'll learn how precise registration is essential when aligning multiple layers of spot colours to create a seamless, full-colour print. In simulated process printing, even slight misalignment can distort the final image, resulting in colour shifts and poor detail. During the workshop, you'll learn advanced registration techniques to ensure each colour layer lines up perfectly, allowing for smooth gradients and crisp details. You'll also explore tips for adjusting the press and using micro-registration tools, ensuring your prints come out clean and vibrant no matter the substrate you're printing on.
